Health and Wellness Day

cmtcolour24_07_16-29We are delighted to announce our second Health and Wellness Day and we would like to invite you to join us at the Larkhill Community Centre, in Timperley.

The Health and Wellness Day is a one day seminar, facilitated by Rebekah Lee, one of our members who is a physiotherapist affected by CMT herself. She will be introducing a full day event, packed with useful lectures on a variety of topics and practical exercise sessions.

The idea is to give you the tools and knowledge to be able to take control and manage your CMT more successfully. It is becoming apparent that exercise and fitness – at whatever level you can manage – are key to keeping mobile for the longer term. The final speaker, Donna DeWick, has CMT herself, but also takes part in para-triathlons and all sorts of events, proving that, with some determination, it really can be done, despite CMT! It may be that Donna’s talk may be just a video, but believe me, she’s worth hearing, whether it’s in person or not!

The exercises will cover a whole range of problems – and don’t worry, if you can’t manage them, Rebekah will be there to help you do them in the best way for you. She will be accompanied by a skilled assistant, who will assist her in helping you to do the exercises safely.

You are welcome to bring your partner/spouse to the event, but please – no children! We have no facilities for a crèche at this event, and the exercise sessions and content of the day is designed for adults only.

The cost includes refreshments, a “picnic” lunch, and a complimentary pack of information to take away with you.  We’re doing this on a much more restricted budget than the first one (to make them more affordable in the longer term), so lunch will consist of sandwiches (of every variety to suit all tastes), cakes, fruit etc, purchased from the nearest supermarket! A bit of a DIY lunch, so if you want bring a plate of something delicious to share, that’ll be great.

Numbers are strictly limited to 40 – including partners/helpers – so please do book quickly. In any case, the deadline for booking is 15th March 2017.

If you would like any further information, don’t hesitate to contact me on karen@cmt.org.uk

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A MEMBER ONLY EVENT, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO COME, PLEASE JOIN FIRST!   Once you’ve confirmed your membership, you can book online by logging into the members area of this website.
