A Gift in Your Will

By leaving a gift to CMTUK in your will, you will be joining the fight to protect future generations from suffering from this condition, with the pain and disability that CMT can cause.

At present, there is no treatment or cure for CMT, and people spend their lives struggling with balance, mobility and dexterity issues; in and out of hospitals for surgery or out patients appointments; children can be bullied at school, and people are more likely to have to retire early for work.  So all we can do is support people now and ensure people can live as well as possible.

Leave a legacy

Leaving a legacy to CMTUK will help people with CMT long into the future.  It will allow people who have just been diagnosed to get the best possible information so that they can understand their condition, and move on with their lives.  It will help us continue to support young people like those shown in the photo above, to give them the tools and self-esteem/self-confidence to have a great life.  It will protect people seeking advice and information from being left without support or advice.

It’s a wonderful feeling knowing that after your death, you will still be giving someone else the opportunity to get support and advice to cope with their CMT, just as I did when I was first diagnosed.

If you would like to know more, you can download our Fact Sheet on Legacies, or take advantage of the Co-operative Legal Service’s offer below.  Or for a more informal chat about leaving a legacy, please contact us.

If you decide to leave a legacy or have already included CMTUK in your will, please contact us to let us know and Thank You.

Will Writing Service

As part of our membership with Remember A Charity we’ve teamed up with The Co-operative Legal Services, a national provider of Wills and other legal services, trusted for their strong ethical beliefs and socially responsible working. They can help you to decide which Will is right for you and can also help you to amend an existing Will to ensure that all the details are correct and current.

Your Will allows you to:

  • Reduce the burden on the loved ones you leave behind
  • Protect any assets you may have and help reduce the impact that inheritance tax and residential care fees can have upon your estate; protecting your assets for your loved ones
  • Ensure that all your assets are dealt with correctly, with debts paid and items going to the people you wish to receive them

The Co-operative Legal Services

Will writing specialists are available to provide free advice on the phone on all matters relating to changing or drafting a Will in just a matter of minutes.

Will Writing Services with The Co-operative Legal Services

The Co-operative Legal Services offer a professional, convenient and easy to use Will Writing Service. Because their service is provided over the telephone, they are able to speak at a time that is convenient to you. They are open 8am – 8pm Monday to Friday, and 9am – 1pm on Saturdays, helping to offer free advice and support.

Their initial conversation only takes around 10 minutes, yet in this time they will be able to explain how a Will protects you, your loved ones and your estate, as well as discussing the option of leaving a gift to a charity in your Will.

If you wish to write your Will with The Co-operative Legal Services, they will agree a convenient time for a Will Writing specialist to take your instruction over the phone from the comfort of your home. This will take around 45 minutes. They will also store your completed Will for free until it is needed.

As a supporter of  Charcot-Marie-Tooth UK, The Co-operative Legal Services are offering to write a basic single Will at a discounted cost of £100 inclusive of VAT. This represents a saving of £25.
